Combination vaccines
Combination vaccines protect poultry against two or more diseases in a single dose, such as Newcastle disease, infectious bronchitis and egg drop syndrome. They reduce the number of times birds are caught and injected, lowering stress and labour cost, and are widely used for layers and breeders before lay.

Which birds are at risk?
Mainly pullets, layers and breeders before lay; some live combinations are used in broilers.
How vaccination protects your flock
Inactivated combinations (for example ND+IB+EDS) are injected during rearing; live combinations (ND+IB) are given by spray, eye drop or water. The right combination depends on your programme and should fit the schedule set with your vet.

Combination Vaccines: common questions
Are combination vaccines as effective as single vaccines?
Licensed combinations are tested to give protection for each component when used as directed. They are standard practice for layers and breeders.
Can I make my own combination by mixing vaccines?
No. Never mix vaccines in one syringe or container unless the manufacturer states it is approved.
Which combination is used before lay?
Inactivated ND+IB+EDS is one of the most common pre-lay combinations; your schedule may add others.

When a vaccinated flock gets sick, the vaccine itself is rarely the problem. Most failures come from what happens between the fridge and the bird.
